  1. I really liked this article "Letter of the Week" I totally agree that you dont have to have a letter of the week. Children minds are like sponges they are eager to learn. I like to introduce my letters based on the childrens first name. I was introduced to Letterland characters and the children love it.Now they sing all day the letters simply because they can differentiate that letter with their name and those of their peers. I also include letters that matches our study. This helps my students that are having a hard time to grasp the letters. In the online Creative Curriculum there is a section that can help your students with their alphabets. That way you can keep track.Great read!

  2. I really enjoyed reading about the activity that this teacher is undertaking. I understand that teachers are moving away from LOTW but maybe we should keep it around depending on the students and the school. I really like to use phonics in my classroom because I think that students learn how to read and spell so much better than when they do not use this method. I teach the Orton-Gillingham method as taught by the Augustine Literacy Project which is magnificent. I think that this is an informative article
