Each month, I will ask you to review an article or watch a video, share your ideas and tell us about your classroom.
The first article will be about becoming a Reflective Teacher. I found a great video on Youtube!

  1. I agree with coach Heidi. I try my best to make an impact in my classroom. I try to turn my lessons and my students into lifelong learners information. I had video taped myself before and I agree its a good way to see your own reflection.

  2. There was a lot of information gained from the video and one thing that I have realized is that I have not videotaped myself teach a lesson. One part of being a reflective teacher is to see yourself in action and when reflecting it is important to be honest about what went well and what could be done to enhance the children’s learning. The speaker in the video discussed that sometimes you can catch yourself teaching your students the same way you have been taught and that is a true statement. For years I have taught children the same way I have been taught, but now I am striving towards learning different ways to create a positive learning environment where there is collaborative learning taking place among both the child and teacher. As I move into my second year in this program, I can honestly say that I have already seen a change in the way I teach.

  3. Although I agree with the teacher, I cannot take her seriously because the video looks unprofessional. I do believe that there is a great deal to gain from video taping a lesson, as long as the school will allow this action to take place. The teacher can review how she dresses, their mannerism, how the students are reacting to her teaching and what is being taught. I wish that the teacher had a more professional video.
